Paramedic School Program Specialist

Eagle County Paramedic Services (ECPS) seeks paramedic school program specialist to join our team. The Paramedic School Program Specialist will be responsible for accreditation, compliance, adequate staffing and providing a satisfactory and successful paramedic education program. The program is a satellite location in conjunction with Denver Health, which will provide support and overall structure of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully apply to the Committee on Accreditation for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP) for the ECPS satellite site program.
  • Apply the portion of the CoAEMSP Annual Report to the ECPS satellite program including the annual Resource Assessment Matrix.
  • Coordinate the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) continuing education review of the satellite program including the site visit.
  • Design and develop the curriculum in alignment with the CoAEMSP requirements for a satellite program.
  • Recruit and train assistant instructors to ensure educational goals are met using best practice design and methods. This may include the implementation, training and oversight of additional positions as the need is determined.
  • Develop and maintain the classroom and lab facilities including management of the purchasing and budget.
  • Responsible for continuous quality review and improvement of the satellite program. This includes the evaluation of the effectiveness of instructional design, resources and instructors.
  • Assist in the long-range planning and development of the program.
  • Ensure the program has involvement and alignment with the Medical Directors.
  • Responsible for orienting, training and supervising the field internship preceptors at ECPS.
  • Establish program policies and procedures and ensure effective communication and compliance of these.
  • Track students’ lab competencies through a commercial product such as Fisdap to ensure all students meet the standards set by the National Registry Paramedic Portfolio.
  • Collaborate with partnering agencies to ensure the educational needs of their employees are met and to encourage their involvement with continuous quality improvement.
  • Attend relevant meetings.
  • Maintain instructional competency and stay up to date on related trends by attending trainings, conferences, etc.
  • Support operations when possible as a field paramedic. Maintain all necessary certifications and continuing education for field work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Current Paramedic Certificate for the State of Colorado and current National Registry -- must be state certified before job starts and must have National Registry within reasonable timeframe
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a 911 system (Flight Paramedic Credential and Critical Care experience preferred)
  • Current certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Valid State of Colorado motor vehicle operating license, with continued safe driving history

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Compenstation: $99,000-$132,000
    Schedule: 40 hrs per week to include 911 shifts as needed to maintain field paramedic proficiency
  • Additional Merit Rate: 1%-3%
    Additional Bi-lingual Merit Rate: 2%
